DR. TOM COTTON
BA (Hons), MSc, PsychD Clinical Psychotherapist, Organisational Consultant and Executive Coach
I draw on psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, integrative and relational approaches to psychotherapy, always with awareness that each person is unique.
Together, we will look for patterns that may underlie issues such as depression, anxiety, psychosis or addiction. Through deepening awareness of these patterns it is possible to address life experiences such as trauma, difficult family dynamics, abandonment and loss.
Much of my work is with people who face the pressures of senior leadership or being in the public eye, and this work involves exploring the dynamics that come with media attention and organisation life. My work as an EMCC accred. (Snr Practitioner level) executive coach also informs this work.
My previous roles include counselling in an NHS GP practice, and managing a residential therapeutic community for clients with Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Addictions. I also supervised other psychotherapists, and tutored on a postgraduate diploma in psychoanalytic studies.
As well as one to one work, I run The Breakthrough Programme in a remote mountain village in France. This intensive programme combines group therapy work with coaching, creative techniques and outdoor activities, and is for anyone who wants to bring a life or work challenge, achieve a breakthrough and leave with a meaningful plan for change. https://mindenvironment.co.uk/the-breakthrough-programme/
In my role as an Executive Coach, I provide challenging but supportive guidance, which will enhance a client’s skills, confidence, focus and potentialities.
I gained my MSc and PsychD degrees in psychotherapy and Counselling from Roehampton University. am a Registered Member of UKCP; a Clinical Member of SAFPAC, and an Assoc. Member of Therapy Harley St. Sessions are available during weekdays and evenings my practice, Woodstock Street Practice, 17 Woodstock Street, Mayfair, W1C 2AJ.
