Retreats

Dr. Allison Bakari Singer’s thrice yearly retreats

Saturday 21st to Sunday 22nd September ’24: Connecting with the Earth: Engaging with Nature to Resource the Self

Venue: Middlethorpe Hall Hotel and Spa, York

During this weekend retreat we will draw on and integrate Creative Arts approaches to Psychotherapy, Yoga and Anthropology to explore our relationship with nature and the natural world; and the meaning they might have for us.

Through engagement with nature, we will consider it’s potential as a resource for discovering and deepening our understanding of ourselves, our relationships with others, and our relationships with the wider world around us.

Reflection on imagery about nature found in stories, visual art, songs, dances, and music from popular and classical culture from the UK and around the world will provide a springboard for our journey. Dance, movement, story, writing, music, singing, visual art, and the natural environment will be used as media of exploration.

Weather permitting, we will work outside in the beautiful National Trust gardens at Middlethorpe Hall Hotel and Spa. No prior experience is necessary.

  • The cost is: £285 for the two days which includes lunch, refreshments and use of the Spa facilities and National Trust Gardens
  • Accommodation is available at the hotel for an additional cost

Find Your Breakthrough – One Day London Programme

Sunday, September 22 · 9am – 5pm

Venue: The Woodland Retreat, 42 Muswell Hill Road London N10 3JP.

This one-day Breakthrough Programme is for a maximum of 8 people who are looking for a breakthrough on a work / life / challenge. Some examples of challenges might be a career change, a difficult professional or personal relationship, or a persistent behavioural pattern that prevents forward momentum.

Facilitated by Mind Environment’s multidisciplinary team of experts in psychotherapy, coaching and creative techniques, the programme will help participants to:

  • Define your current challenge
  • Identify the unseen forces that are preventing progress
  • Develop and plot a meaningful plan for next steps

What to expect

Often, when we’re trying to overcome a challenge, we tend to attack it with the solution-focussed part of our minds. That’s an excellent tool for many tasks, but when it can’t find meaningful answers, it tends to ramp up the anxiety and prevent us from seeing the bigger picture more clearly. Without seeing this, we tend to get trapped looking for a solution that can’t be found.

Based in the peaceful urban oasis of The Woodland Retreat in Highgate’s protected Queen’s Wood, we will help you step out of the ordinary into a new way of thinking with our signature Breakthrough Process, facilitated group work that fuses together discussion and creative techniques into a powerful engine for positive change.

Working as a group, we take you on a deep-level journey into your challenge, help you identify some of the forces that underpin it, and support you to develop a solution-focussed plan for next steps.

By the end of the programme you will have developed:

  • A better understanding of the forces that underpin your challenge
  • Greater insight into how you function in the world
  • Deeper awareness of the forces that drive your interactions with others
  • A practical plan for working on your challenge

More about The Breakthrough Process

The world is becoming ever more complex. Quick fixes and feel-good interventions are not enough. You need to get far beneath the surface in order to develop meaningful solutions, and because your time is in short supply, you need to do that fast.

Designed and facilitated by experts in psychotherapy, leadership, creative techniques, business and strategy, Mind Environment’s tried and tested Breakthrough Process dives deep into the rational, emotional, and unconscious dimensions of your challenge, by combining four core elements:

  • Group discussion
  • Inner work
  • Creative techniques
  • Coaching

Combined, and facilitated with psychological rigour, these elements act as a force multiplier to provide rapid clarity on hidden obstacles and a realistic path forward in a compressed timeframe.

More about The Mind Environment and our facilitators:

In 2018, psychotherapist and leadership coach Dr Tom Cotton founded Mind Environment to help individuals and leaders develop greater clarity on their purpose and path in life.

Our core belief endures. In this fast-changing world, seeing the forces that influence us more clearly is the key to finding breakthrough on life and work challenges.

At our yearly, four-day intensive Breakthrough Spring Programme in France, we provide participants with a space to arrive with a challenge, experience breakthrough, and leave with a plan for meaningful change.

The Mind Environment team comprises specialists in psychotherapy and coaching, leadership, entrepreneurship and business. Collectively, we have guided clients through life, work and relationship challenges, run successful businesses, and led change at the highest level of global organisations.
